Advocacy experts present in global webinar

16 June 2014

Presenters from the Anglican Alliance, Anglican Board of Mission, Anglican Overseas Aid, and Micah Challenge Australia will all join the upcoming webinar to discuss advocacy tools for the local church.

The webinar will take place on Tuesday 24th June from 9-10am UK time.  You can join the discussion at https://workcast.adobeconnect.com/_a852896472/anglican 

Here is more information about our presenters and the background that they will bring to the Global Anglicans webinar:

Andy BowermanRevd Andy Bowerman is Co-Director for the Anglican Alliance.  He has many years of experience in poverty, advocacy, disability and HIV and AIDS, both in the UK and internationally.

 Andy has been closely involved with Tearfund and a range of other faith-based and international charities, especially working on HIV in South and Central Asia.  

He has an entrepreneurial background, and has opened a community restaurant that puts profits into community development work.

 

 

Tagolyn KabekabeTagolyn Kabekabe is the Anglican Alliance’s regional facilitator for the Pacific.  She is a teacher and development worker from the Solomon Islands, working both with the global Anglican Alliance and Anglican Overseas Aid.  

Tagolyn has most recently been involved with the Anglican presence at the C20 Summit in Melbourne, and the Voices for Justice event in Canberra.  

Her work involves advising on issues of family violence and gender equality within the church and local community, as well as the impact of climate change on Pacific communities. 

 

 Brad Chapman ABMBrad Chapman is the Education Missioner for the Anglican Board of Mission – Australia.  

He is also a member of the Public Affairs Commission of the Anglican Church of Australia.  

Brad holds qualifications in Theology and International and Community Development, and has a particular research interest in Partnership.

 

 

David Cook AOADavid Cook is the Communications and Policy Advisor for Anglican Overseas Aid in Melbourne, Australia.  

He has a passion for telling stories, particularly related to social causes, and using the power of those stories to help advocate for justice.

Before joining Anglican Overseas Aid, David spent almost four years as Media Officer for Plan International Australia.

He is actively involved with his local church and faith-based movements for justice.

 

 Ben ThurleyBen Thurley is the Political Engagement Coordinator with Micah Challenge Australia.  

He has worked for TEAR Australia in Australia, and in Nepal as advocacy advisor with United Mission to Nepal.
