Theology, prayer and Bible study

The Anglican Alliance’s vision of a world free of poverty, inequality, injustice and exclusion, where humanity and creation can flourish together, is rooted in our Christian faith. It is shaped by our understanding of God’s ongoing love for the world and special concern for the poor, as lived and embodied by Jesus.

Jesus said he had come “to bring good news to the poor and freedom to the oppressed” (Luke 4:18) and “that they may have life, life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). Jesus told his followers to pray for God’s kingdom to come and will to be done on earth, as in heaven.

We believe the Gospel continues to have transformational power. We believe that the mission of the Church is the mission of Christ, and see this reflected in the Anglican Marks of Mission.

Theological reflection, Bible study and prayer underpin all our work and provide a strong foundation for the work of churches in their practical work of relief, development and advocacy.
