Here in Thika, the Community Development Trust is helping local people get access to finance. The community now have three banks! And Tearfund is working with the Church through a Community Mobilisation Programme, otherwise known as ‘Umoja’, which is a dynamic way of enabling church people to work together with their community to break out from hopelessness and dependency and plan their way forward. Success stories have included community irrigation projects and fish farms as well as positively changing attitudes towards people with HIV/AIDS.
