The Anglican Alliance’s Africa facilitator will work closely with the Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa and will be based at the CAPA offices in Nairobi, Kenya.
It’s a key position in the Anglican Alliance which brings together development, relief and advocacy across the Anglican Communion, supporting the work of Anglican provinces, and liaising with Anglican agencies to share best practice, build capacity, as part of the Church’s mission to work for a world free of poverty and injustice.
We’re looking for someone with a sound knowledge of international development issues, and experience of working in some of the Alliance priority areas. The facilitator will be part of the Alliance’s global staff team, a small, committed group, and will need to be able to build and maintain good working relations with the other facilitators in Asia, the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as with the London office. As well as being part of this global team, the facilitator will also need to be able to work closely with Churches and agencies in Africa, working independently and taking responsibility for some key Alliance programmes.
As well as supporting Churches at the most local level, the facilitator needs to be able to work at national and global levels, especially to ensure that the Anglican voice is heard in advocacy on economic empowerment and food security. And in the area of relief, the Africa facilitator will work closely with the relief manager in London especially on support for communities affected by conflict.
