Drawing on the experiences of Anglicans as well as the history of women in the Bible, ‘Reclaiming Public Spaces‘, explores some of the battles that women face around the world, and sets out some pointers for Churches to tackle these problems and support the women in their local communities. The resource is available in English and Spanish, and will soon be available in French.
The resource includes discussion questions for churches and women’s groups, as well as providing practical examples of the ways in which the Church has already begun to support its women and claim back some of the places where they may feel most vulnerable. It also provides external resources to further guide and encourage the work of the Church.
It sets out the achievements of churches around the Communion, especially in Zambia, Uruguay, North India and the Solomon Islands in working to improve the safety of women and support those affected by gender-based violence.
The Anglican Alliance looks forward to hearing more about the work of the Church in this area, and has set up a special forum for you to share your ideas and hear more about the work of Anglicans around the world in reclaiming public spaces and improving the safety of women.
