‘Reclaiming Public Spaces’ resource now available in Bangla, English, Spanish and French

7 March 2013

The Anglican Alliance resource is available here in Bangla,  EnglishSpanish and French

The resource has been prepared with Grace Mazala, an Anglican Alliance steering group member from the Anglican Church in Zambia, and focuses on community safety for women, and creating a culture of peace and justice.

It sets out the positive actions taken by the Church in India, England, Solomon Islands and Uruguay, includes two Bible studies, one about a brutal rape, and suggests some ways forward. There are also links to other resources.

An online forum can also be accessed through the home page of the Anglican Alliance by clicking on the forum icon at the bottom right hand corner of the page, and registering. There is a discussion area for Anglicans to set out what they are doing on International Women’s Day.

The Alliance’s Pacific facilitator, Tagolyn Kabekabe travelled to Fiji to support the Church in the Pacific in drawing up guidelines for tackling gender-based violence.

Meanwhile Grace Mazala will be taking forward the work in Zambia with a series of events to mark International Women’s Day. And in Bangladesh, the Asia facilitator Michael Roy will be supporting the Church of Bangladesh in its International Women’s Day events.

Also available for download is this resource pack from Restored, ‘Ending Domestic Abuse: A pack for Churches‘.   Restored is an international Christian alliance working to transform relationships and end violence against women.  Their pack enables Churches to address domestic abuse issues more effectively.

If you or your Church is doing anything for International Women’s Day please contact us at anglicanalliance@aco.org.  We will publicise your event and share your news to encourage and inspire the Anglican Communion worldwide.
