The moves carry forward the mandates given by consultations in the region and will support the crucial work of the church in these areas.

Food, climate change and youth empowerment were identified as three priorities for the Pacific region, and will be especially important for the new position. The Anglican Alliance brings together the family of Anglican churches and agencies worldwide. At the Alliance consultation in Honiara last year, there was agreement that the region wanted a facilitator to help scale up the development , relief and advocacy work. The Pacific facilitator will work with the provinces, diocese and agencies in Aotearoa, new Zealand, Australia, Melanesia, Polynesia and Papua new Guinea. The post holder will, during the first year, get particular training and support before taking on some of the more challenging aspects of the position.
The facilitator will be located in Honiara, Solomon Islands, and employed by the Anglican Alliance on a fixed term contract with the Anglican Church of Melanesia being managing agent.
This is the third post for a regional facilitator for the Anglican Alliance. The Africa facilitator has been in post since last year, and is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and the facilitator for Latin America and the Caribbean will be based in Brazil.
